Authorisation currently required by Microsoft or Sony.
Responding to a question on Twitter if consoles would be added to the sub, Epic Games VP Mark Rein wrote: "We'd love to. For now you need to be authorized by MS and/or Sony first."
Rein was quick to add: "I need to stress that UE4 already runs amazingly on Xbox One and PS4! Lots of devs are already making UE4 games on those platforms."
Yesterday Epic announced its $19 a month subscription plan for Unreal Engine 4.
Fortnite and several other projects currently in development instead.
"We're not [planning on] shipping an Unreal Tournament game," said Sweeney.
He added: "We have a lot of nostalgia for the game but we're actually not developing anything in the Unreal game universe at all at the moment.
"We've announced Fortnite... That's a game we'll be talking about later. We don't have anything to show you here at GDC."
In addition to Fortnite, Sweeney confirmed that the studio was working on "several other projects that aren't announced yet that are being developed with Unreal Engine 4".
Thinking about diving knee-deep into the creative territory of interactive digital entertainment? Well, things just got a heck of a lot easier thanks to Epic Games revealing that you can now get in good... real good with the Unreal Engine 4 for a flat, monthly subscription fee.
Gears of War developer Epic is probably better known in the development community for creating and licensing the Unreal game engine, but those tools have always been very expensive and limited to big studios. However, Epic announced that all that's changing for Unreal Engine 4: starting today, , and they hope to share more details soon.
